About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Software Developer located at the Redstone Arsenal in Alabama to support the Sensors Test, Analysis, Requirements, and Simulations (STARS) products branch. The role involves developing advanced tools to help military teams optimize and plan sensor usage, thereby improving situational awareness and asset protection. This is achieved by integrating complex data, such as radar and terrain information, into user-friendly software that will directly impact how efficiently warfighters can respond to real-world scenarios.

Requirements

  • Software development experience
  • Experience with Containerization frameworks
  • Experience with Restful APIs
  • Experience with heuristic algorithms for search plan optimization
  • Experience with deterministic statistical roll-ups for Probability of Acquisition (Pacq)
  • Experience with 4/3 Effective Earth Radius models for terrain masking (using DTED)
  • Experience with data ingestion and export pipelines for tactical log data from radars and tactical binary search plan files (SPT, OSP, Custom XML)
  • Familiarity with DoD DevSecOps best practices
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity standards for operational military environments
  • Ability to translate complex physics and engineering models into scalable, performant software code

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Planner Service development effort in support of the C2BMC Catana planning tool suite.
  • Design and maintain seamless interoperability with Containerization frameworks, Restful APIs and interfaces from external tool suites.
  • Oversee the architectural implementation of heuristic algorithms for search plan optimization, deterministic statistical roll-ups for Probability of Acquisition (Pacq), and 4/3 Effective Earth Radius models for terrain masking (using DTED).
  • Ensure robust data ingestion and export pipelines for tactical log data from radars and tactical binary search plan files (SPT, OSP, Custom XML).
  • Support the software team in adopting DoD DevSecOps best practices, ensuring all code meets rigorous cybersecurity standards for deployment in operational military environments.
  • Contribute to a team of software engineers and radar systems analysts in translating complex physics and engineering models into scalable, performant software code.
