About The Position

As a Software Engineer Level 2 at Independent Software, you will develop, enhance, and maintain mission-critical enterprise applications that process large volumes of operational data. You will use Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and relational databases to build scalable software solutions, while supporting application modernization and deployment in Kubernetes environments. You will collaborate with an Agile development team to improve application performance, develop new capabilities, and modernize enterprise data processing systems. The role also provides backup database administration support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery. Candidates must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered.

Requirements

Experience developing with Java using Spring Boot or similar frameworks.
Angular or comparable front-end development experience.
Experience with RESTful APIs and relational databases such as MariaDB, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
Docker or Podman and Kubernetes experience.
Application modernization and software architecture experience.
Technical documentation and software troubleshooting experience.
Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph.
Meet one of the stated education and experience combinations: High School Diploma/GED or Associate's Degree plus 18 years of relevant software engineering experience; or a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related technical field plus 14 years of relevant software engineering experience.

Nice To Haves

Microservices architecture and large-scale data processing experience.
Experience with Kubernetes platforms such as Rancher, EKS, or OpenShift; Helm; and Kubernetes resource management.
GitLab CI/CD, automated testing, and DevSecOps experience.
Jira, Confluence, and database administration experience.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain Java/Spring Boot and Angular applications.
Develop RESTful APIs, service integrations, and scalable data processing solutions.
Optimize MariaDB and other relational database queries and integrations.
Support application containerization and Kubernetes deployments using Docker or Podman.
Participate in software design, code reviews, troubleshooting, and automated testing.
Support GitLab CI/CD pipelines and Agile development, and create technical documentation using Jira and Confluence.
Provide backup database administration support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB, including maintenance, troubleshooting, and recovery.
Collaborate with team members to improve application performance, reliability, and modernization efforts.
