About The Position

The Multiport Software Group at Intuitive is hiring a Software Engineer to support automated testing and the internal da Vinci emulator. The engineer will help build, deploy, and support an automated test framework that includes a system emulator and hybrid hardware-in-the-loop setups. The role balances delivery of new features with support for existing features and tracking system changes in a high-energy, focused team environment. It requires quickly learning complex, evolving systems through experimentation, sharing responsibility and rewards with teammates, and helping make the work engaging. The position focuses on expanding the emulator to accurately represent system components, maintaining automated test rigs by debugging integrations across software systems, and contributing to an internal test framework for continuous integration and formal verification and validation of system software. The engineer will also learn and explore evolving da Vinci system software and firmware.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 2 years of experience, or a master's degree with no experience, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience understanding and debugging complex systems.
  • Knowledge of software engineering and computer science fundamentals.
  • Experience using Python and C++.
  • Proficient communication skills and ability to collaborate with a diverse range of engineers.
  • Ability to excel in a high-energy, focused team environment and balance new-feature delivery, support of existing features, and tracking system changes.
  • Ability to rapidly learn complex and continually evolving systems through direct experimentation.
  • A strong sense of shared responsibility and shared reward.

Responsibilities

  • Expand the internal da Vinci emulator to faithfully emulate embedded computers, microcontrollers, sensors, FPGAs, or physics models.
  • Maintain automated test rigs, primarily by debugging the integration of multiple software systems within the rig.
  • Assist in developing an internal test framework for informal continuous integration and formal verification and validation of system software.
  • Learn and explore the continuously evolving da Vinci system software and firmware.
  • Build, deploy, and support the automated test framework, emulator, and hybrid hardware-in-the-loop setups.

Benefits

  • Market-competitive compensation packages including base pay, incentives, benefits, and equity.
