About The Position

Davidson is seeking a Software Engineer to support the SCALE (Supply Chain Analytics and Logistics Environment) development program in Huntsville, Alabama. SCALE is a data-driven analytics platform that integrates procurement, logistics, and forecasting operations to enable predictive and prescriptive decision-making for the Department of War. The role is part of a cross-functional team building a secure, scalable, data-driven environment for enterprise-level analytics and AI readiness. The position calls for experience with relational databases and an interest in developing scalable, secure software solutions in an Agile environment.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
4–10 years of experience in software development.
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages, such as Python, C++, or Java.
Experience developing in Linux and/or Windows environments.
Strong understanding of RESTful API design, modular code structure, and service-based architectures.
Familiarity with SQL and database integration, such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
Exposure to AWS or hybrid cloud architectures.
Knowledge of software development lifecycle best practices, including code reviews, unit testing, CI/CD, and version control.
Excellent collaboration and communication skills in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
Must currently hold or be able to obtain a DoW Secret security clearance; clearance is not required to start.

Nice To Haves

Experience integrating visualization platforms through backend data services or APIs.
Experience with containerization and orchestration.
Familiarity with data-centric applications or enterprise reporting environments.
Understanding of DevSecOps pipelines, automated testing, and infrastructure-as-code.
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
Working knowledge of DoW security and compliance standards.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain modular software components and microservices for the SCALE platform.
Design and implement RESTful APIs, data access services, and backend logic supporting dynamic reporting and analytics.
Write clean, maintainable code and participate in code reviews, testing, and integration.
Collaborate with data analysts to optimize query performance and data retrieval for business intelligence and forecasting tools.
Work with the Product Owner and other engineers to translate requirements into development tasks and working software.
Support dashboard and data-service integration through backend code enhancements and secure data exchange.
Participate in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint goals.
Experiment with innovative ideas and technologies.
Support documentation, version control, and configuration management in accordance with Agile best practices.
Assist in designing and implementing scalable architecture for future AI/ML features and predictive analytics modules.
Manage relational databases and data pipelines that integrate multiple data sources, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and traceability.
Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, anomalies, and optimization opportunities in procurement and logistics data.
