About The Position

As a Software Engineer III on a database platform team, you will design, implement, and maintain data infrastructure capabilities that power a variety of database and caching solutions for product teams across the organization. You’ll own infrastructure changes and add features that improve reliability, compliance, security, and high availability, while making these platforms simple and intuitive for engineers to adopt. You will also help ensure that changes are rolled out safely. In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with site reliability engineers, partner application teams, and other platform engineers to troubleshoot user issues and continuously improve the reliability and scalability of our database platforms. You’ll enhance developer-facing tools and user interfaces, and create clear, reusable documentation and runbooks that help other engineers adopt secure, modern database patterns at scale.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or a PhD without experience
  • Deep experience with distributed and relational database technologies—such as Aurora PostgreSQL/MySQL or other relational databases, MongoDB or other distributed data stores, and caching technologies (e.g., AWS ElastiCache) is a must.
  • Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale or distributed systems.
  • Direct experience with service-oriented architectures and APIs, and at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Python, or Go).
  • Experience building and operating services on AWS, including practical use of core cloud primitives (compute, storage, networking, and IAM).
  • Frontend/UI experience with modern web technologies, including TypeScript/JavaScript, React (or similar component-based frameworks), HTML, and CSS, and integrating these UIs with internal platforms and APIs.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD tooling (e.g., Terraform, GitLab CI, or similar) to manage platform infrastructure and deployments.
  • Practical experience leveraging AI tooling (for example, Windsurf or Claude) to improve development and operations workflows and accelerate delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain shared database and caching platform capabilities that support multiple products and services.
  • Own infrastructure changes and feature enhancements that improve reliability, security, compliance, and high availability for platforms.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, respond to incidents, and drive timely resolution and follow-ups.
  • Drive safe, automated, AI-assisted deployment of changes, including validation, rollout strategy, and monitoring for regressions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex user and production issues in collaboration with application teams.
  • Enhance and expand platform-provided developer tools, APIs, and interfaces so that adopting the platform is simple and intuitive for the product team.
  • Author and maintain clear technical documentation, runbooks, and best practices.

Benefits

  • quarterly bonuses
  • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
  • a Paid Time Off policy
  • many region-specific benefits
