About The Position

We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer to craft software that has a significant impact on the world and the future of on-prem private clouds. This role involves problem-solving, continuous learning, and contributing to a collaborative environment where teams care about their products and their impact on customer business objectives. The engineer will collaborate with architects and technical leads to develop system software, deliver converged appliance platforms, and enable VCF to converge onto a single appliance model. This includes designing and implementing enhancements and new capabilities in VCF and related areas, performing systems-level programming, and full-stack development including REST APIs. The role also entails participating in all aspects of Service Ownership, including monitoring, alert automation, triaging, and fixing issues to improve SLOs, as well as participating in an on-call rotation for platform operational support. Work will focus on Management, Control, and Data Plane improvements, utilizing test-driven development for high-quality code, improving and maintaining CI pipelines, performing code reviews, and using tools to measure, analyze, and tune performance and scalability. The engineer will develop flexible, reusable code for multiple components across various operating systems/hypervisors, interact with architects and technical leads, respond to customer issues, and collaborate with customer support and the release team.

Requirements

Bachelors and 12+ years of related experience; at this level a post-graduate degree is typically expected
Masters degree and 10+ years of related experience
PhD and 7+ years of related experience
Systems level programming in Java, GoLang, Python.
Full stack development that includes REST APIs.
Test-driven development.
CI pipelines.
Code reviews.
Performance and scalability analysis and tuning.
Developing flexible, reusable code.
Interacting with architects and technical leads.
Responding to customer issues.
Interacting with customer support organization and the release team.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with architects and technical leads to develop system software according to design and architecture specifications.
Deliver converged appliance platform to enable VCF to converge onto a single appliance model.
Design and implement enhancements and new capabilities in VCF and related areas.
Perform systems level programming in Java, GoLang, Python.
Conduct full stack development that includes REST APIs.
Participate in all aspects of Service Ownership, monitoring, alert-automation, triaging, and fixing issues to improve SLOs.
Participate in our on-call rotation, providing operational support to our platform.
Work on Management, Control and Data Plane improvements.
Utilize test-driven development to deliver high quality code.
