About The Position

The Delivery Engineering team within Product Delivery Experience at State Farm is seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a strong focus on containerization and orchestration technologies. This role is critical for building, deploying, and managing containerized applications at enterprise scale, making expertise in Docker and Kubernetes essential. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience creating and maintaining container images, as well as deploying and managing them using Docker, Kubernetes, ROSA, JFrog, and ArgoCD. Beyond technical proficiency, we value engineers who are passionate about automation, empowering product teams, and continuously advancing their skills. Requirements

  • Proven experience building, deploying, and managing containerized solutions, including multi-architecture (ARM/AMD) builds
  • Strong knowledge of container orchestration and management platforms such as Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, and OpenShift (ROSA)
  • Familiarity with container security best practices and threat modeling
  • Understanding of container networking, storage concepts, and artifact management with tools like JFrog
  • Experience with container registries and image management in cloud environments, including AWS (EKS, RDS, Route 53, ROSA) and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Go, Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and scripting languages like Bash for automation
  • Expertise in GitLab/GitHub workflows and CI/CD best practices aligned with DevOps and GitOps methodologies

Responsibilities

  • Play a critical role in shaping the future of container technologies within State Farm’s Delivery Engineering team
  • Apply modern coding, testing, security, DevOps, and software engineering best practices to develop and maintain applications that support evolving business needs
  • Analyze customer technical requirements, propose solutions, and design implementation and integration plans
  • Lead the analysis, design, deployment, support, and security of technology solutions to ensure efficient management of technology and data assets in accordance with industry best practices and regulatory standards
  • Embrace a DevOps and Agile mindset, taking ownership of products throughout their lifecycle, from inception to sunset
  • Apply user experience principles to improve product usability and enhance customer interaction
  • Leverage advanced computer science concepts and automated software change models using tools such as git and GitLab to accelerate time to market
  • Enhance observability and auditability of solutions by utilizing event logging and monitoring platforms like DataDog, Splunk, Dynatrace, and Grafana
  • Provide engineering mentorship to improve team workflows and collaboration
  • Continuously advance the automated software deployment lifecycle by implementing enterprise-grade capabilities such as feature flags, and blue/green, canary, and smoke deployments

Benefits

  • Compensation is based on our standard 38:45-hour work week
  • Potential starting salary range: $110,000 - $130,000
  • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
