About The Position

The Software Engineer is responsible for building and supporting enterprise integration solutions that connect Epic with internal and external systems. This role combines hands-on software engineering, contribution to software architecture, and operational ownership to ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable healthcare technology solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field required.
  • Equivalent combination of education and professional experience will be considered.
  • 2+ years of software development experience with demonstrated success in designing and delivering enterprise applications.
  • Strong expertise in C#
  • .NET Framework / .NET Core
  • Experience building and supporting RESTful APIs
  • SQL Server and relational database design
  • Entity Framework Core
  • Data model design and scaffolding
  • MongoDB or other NoSQL databases
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices.
  • Experience developing scalable, maintainable solutions using established architectural patterns and design principles.
  • Proficiency with source control systems, CI/CD pipelines, and modern software development tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Epic integrations, HL7/FHIR, and Mirth Connect strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, enhance, deploy, and support Epic integrations and related applications.
  • Contribute to the technical design and architectural decisions that promote scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Partner with Epic Analysts, Product Owners, QA, and Operations teams to deliver business and clinical solutions.
  • Drive operational excellence through production support, incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain applications and integration solutions that support Epic and LIMS platforms.
  • Contribute to the implementation of new features and enhancements aligned with business and clinical objectives.
  • Participate in code reviews and enforce software engineering best practices, coding standards, and security guidelines.
  • Support production deployments and release activities.
  • Contribute to application architecture and technical design decisions.
  • Help evaluate technologies, frameworks, and approaches to improve development productivity and solution quality.
  • Serve as a Tier-2 support resource for production applications and integrations.
  • Troubleshoot complex technical issues; analyze logs, data flows, and application behavior to identify root causes.
  • Resolve incidents, implement corrective actions, and document findings.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and drive permanent solutions to reduce recurring issues.
  • Monitor application health and proactively identify opportunities for stability and performance improvements.
  • Partner with Epic Analysts, Product Owners, QA Engineers, and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Participate in sprint planning, backlog refinement, estimations, and release planning.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure successful delivery of integration initiatives and production support activities.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, build and deployment guides, SOPs, workflows, and support knowledge articles.
  • Ensure Jira tickets are properly maintained with accurate statuses, implementation notes, root cause analyses, deployment evidence, and supporting documentation.
