Software Engineer (Senior/Staff)

Sailor Health
•$150,000 - $270,000

About The Position

Sailor Health is hiring a Senior/Staff Full Stack Engineer as an early member of its team. The role is based in New York City (Soho) or remote. The engineer will take on important business problems and determine how to solve them with software or AI, owning the work end to end—from deciding what to build through implementation, launch, and measuring impact. The role is product-focused and works closely with clinical, operations, and growth teams. The engineer’s work will shape how older adults experience their care. The position involves building full-stack web applications and AI agents. Patient-facing products should provide accessible, confidence-building experiences for older adults, while provider tools should reduce friction and support better patient outcomes. The engineer will have freedom to choose the technology stack and approach, and will work with new models and agentic tools.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated excellence and a drive to build with urgency and precision.
  • Technical proficiency across the stack, including React, TypeScript, Node.js, and PostgreSQL.
  • Strong product intuition, high emotional intelligence, and curiosity about underlying business and clinical problems.
  • Ability to work effectively with ambiguity and move quickly with imperfect information.
  • Kindness, honesty, low ego, and a desire to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Responsibilities

  • Build web applications end to end, including frontend, backend, system design, testing, and launch; own the lifecycle from scoping through measuring impact.
  • Create delightful, accessible patient experiences that help older adults feel confident using technology and encourage continued engagement.
  • Build provider tools that give clinicians time back, reduce friction in their work, and measurably improve patient outcomes.
  • Build AI agents from the ground up by designing conversations, orchestrating models, evaluating quality, and shipping agents used by patients and providers.
  • Work with clinical, operations, and growth teams to understand problems before deciding what to build.
  • Build with new models and agentic tooling, choosing the stack and approach.
