Today, districts across Missouri use balanceHQ to bring clarity to complex financial decisions, improve transparency, and make choices that create better outcomes for students, educators, and schools. Our mission is simple: help public schools spend less time worrying about money and more time focused on education. As we grow, we’re continuing to build practical, modern tools that help school leaders simplify complex financial work and make better decisions for their districts. Our team is collaborative, Slack-first, hybrid-friendly, and focused on keeping things honest, responsive, and simple. You’ll join as a product-minded full stack engineer helping build the next generation of school finance software. You’ll work directly with our founders, engineering team, support, and customers to understand real problems, design simple solutions, and ship features end-to-end. Day to day, you’ll work across React, JavaScript, Python, FastAPI, and product workflows that touch budgeting, financial planning, reporting, and operational finance tools for public schools.
Requirements
- React, JavaScript, and Python
- Building customer-facing software
- Owning projects from concept to delivery
- Using AI tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or similar tools

- Fintech, accounting software, payroll, HR tech, B2B SaaS, startups, or AI-powered products
- Ownership, curiosity, customer empathy, and the ability to build useful software.
