About The Position

GRVTY is seeking a Software Engineer with an active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance applicable to the customer to join a project in Annapolis, Maryland. The role develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems based on documented requirements, including processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithms, very large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems. The engineer may work individually or as part of a team; reviews and tests software components against design requirements; documents test results; resolves software problem reports; and applies software development and design methodologies appropriate to the environment. The position contributes to system design by evaluating hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS alternatives to new development, and the analysis and synthesis of system-level requirements into individual software components. The posting also describes a broad range of potential software engineering activities, from requirements analysis, design, coding, integration, testing, documentation, and performance improvement to technical leadership and coordination of software development teams, as appropriate to the project and development process.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance, applicable to the customer.
  • Twelve years of experience as a software engineer on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university; four additional years of software engineering experience on projects with similar software processes may substitute for the degree.
  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring Boot, Mongo, Kafka, JMS, Kubernetes, Docker, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems based on documented requirements.
  • Work individually or as part of a team.
  • Review and test software components for adherence to design requirements and document test results.
  • Resolve software problem reports.
  • Use software development and design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
  • Provide input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS use, and requirements analysis and synthesis.
  • Analyze user requirements and derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects; modify software to add features, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Design and code new software, and integrate existing software into new or modified systems and operating environments.
  • Develop database or data repository queries and interfaces, and design or implement algorithms to meet performance and functional standards.
  • Write or review software and system documentation, and recommend or implement improvements to documentation and development process standards.
  • Assist with developing and executing software component test procedures and perform quality control on team products.
  • Analyze system performance, data usage, workflows, and problem areas to develop software solutions.
  • Confer with users, system engineers, and hardware engineers to determine software requirements, project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning against operational specifications.
  • Depending on project needs, serve as a team or technical lead; oversee development teams; coordinate the development process with the customer and system engineering; delegate programming and testing responsibilities; and monitor team performance.
  • Recommend technologies and processes for complex software projects.
