About The Position

TactWare is seeking a Software Engineer to support the Precision Fires program for the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Center (AvMC) at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. In this role, you will help design, develop, integrate, test, and modernize software for mission-critical military systems. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team alongside software, systems, hardware, cyber, safety, and test engineers.

Requirements

  • Active Secret security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to security clearance requirements.
  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • An additional six years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with C/C++ and other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience with object-oriented software design and development.
  • Experience developing and maintaining unit tests.
  • Experience working in Linux development environments.
  • Experience with Git or similar source control systems.
  • Experience working in an Agile software development environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Nice To Haves

  • Embedded or real-time software development experience.
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS).
  • Hardware/software integration experience.
  • Microsoft Azure DevOps experience.
  • Experience with safety-critical software.
  • Experience with UML, SysML, MBSE, or architecture modeling tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded software for military systems.
  • Support requirements analysis, software design, implementation, testing, and documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Develop maintainable software using C/C++ and other object-oriented programming languages based on program needs.
  • Develop and maintain unit tests and automated build and test workflows.
  • Troubleshoot software defects and system integration issues.
  • Participate in software and system design reviews and technical interchange meetings.
  • Work within an Agile software development environment.
  • Collaborate across engineering disciplines to deliver integrated software capabilities.
  • Support the modernization and sustainment of new and existing software systems.
