About The Position

Build software that changes how the physical world gets built. At EARTHBRAIN, we're building technology that transforms construction jobsites into intelligent, connected environments. Born from Komatsu—one of the world's largest construction equipment manufacturers—and backed by Komatsu, NTT, Sony, and Nomura Research Institute, EARTHBRAIN combines the speed and ownership of a technology company with the resources and global reach of established industry leaders. Our Smart Construction platform is already deployed across more than 15,000 jobsites in Japan and used in more than 27 countries. Now we're expanding our North American engineering team—and we're looking for experienced software engineers who want to work on technical problems that go far beyond the typical web application. You'll help build 3D products that allow contractors to combine CAD files, aerial and satellite imagery, drone-captured point clouds, terrain data, and other project information to visualize, analyze, and plan complex construction projects. Think centimeter-level terrain precision, massive geospatial datasets, earthwork calculations, digital twins, and interactive 3D environments. And that's only where we're starting. Our longer-term roadmap includes remote and autonomous construction, with cloud systems coordinating fleets of heavy machinery across jobsites.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building, shipping, and supporting production systems.
  • Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with at least part of our technology stack.
  • The ability—and curiosity—to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
  • Experience incorporating AI development tools into your day-to-day engineering workflow.
  • The technical judgment to recognize where AI-generated solutions work well, where they don't, and when human intervention matters.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience collaborating effectively across teams, disciplines, and time zones.
  • A computer science degree, related technical degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Ability to work from our Philadelphia office at least two days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • WebGL, GIS, mapping, or 3D graphics technologies such as CesiumJS, Three.js, or deck.gl.
  • Large datasets, particularly point clouds, imagery, terrain, or other geospatial information.
  • AWS and Docker-based development environments.
  • Globally distributed engineering organizations.
  • Construction, mining, agriculture, robotics, heavy equipment, or other industrial technology.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, document, and continuously ship production software.
  • Build customer-facing 3D experiences that help contractors understand and manage complex projects.
  • Work across the stack, from CesiumJS rendering in the browser to cloud-based geospatial data pipelines.
  • Solve problems involving terrain, imagery, point clouds, CAD data, visualization, and large-scale geospatial datasets.
  • Use AI coding agents as part of your daily engineering workflow—and critically review, refine, and improve their output.
  • Own features from initial technical design through production.
  • Improve engineering quality through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming, testing, and technical collaboration.
  • Collaborate directly with engineering teams in Japan as part of one global product organization.
  • Help shape the technical practices and culture of our growing North American engineering team.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Short- and long-term disability coverage.
  • Company-paid life insurance.
  • 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Generous paid time off and sick leave.
  • Free lunch, snacks, and drinks in the office.
  • Professional development through workshops, jobsite experiences, global hackathons, and Udemy courses.
