Software Engineer (Infra)

About The Position

Conversion is hiring an infrastructure engineer for its core engineering team. The role focuses on building infrastructure, developer tooling, and platform systems that help other engineers ship features faster and more reliably. Conversion’s platform handles large-scale customer data syncs, complex workflows, revenue-generating form submissions, and high-volume email delivery, so reliability and scale are important considerations. The company values engineers who make pragmatic infrastructure tradeoffs, balancing the benefits of changes against their cost, and who are intellectually curious. This is an in-person role five days per week in San Francisco.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, and platform systems at fast-growing companies.
  • Experience shipping and operating systems that other engineers depend on, including CI/CD, observability, deployment tooling, or internal platforms.
  • A startup mindset and interest in taking early ownership in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Go for backend services.
  • Experience with Kafka, Temporal, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, and Terraform.
  • Experience with Kubernetes as a compute platform.
  • Experience with ArgoCD, Grafana, and VictoriaStack for logging and management.
  • Experience with GCP for cloud hosting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building internal developer tools or platforms that meaningfully changed how a team shipped.
  • A strong belief in maintaining security, reliability, and organization.
  • Experience at a Series A to C startup that scaled quickly.
  • A strong track record of side projects, apps, or hackathons.

Responsibilities

  • Build cloud infrastructure, developer tooling, and platform systems.
  • Operate systems that other engineers depend on, such as CI/CD, observability, deployment tooling, and internal platforms.
  • Empower other engineers to ship features faster and more reliably.
  • Balance the costs of infrastructure changes against their potential benefits.
  • Help maintain security, reliability, and organization across systems.
