About The Position

Walmart is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks. The Walmart Translation Platform team develops an advanced translation solution leveraging neural networks to achieve exceptional accuracy and fluency. The team addresses large-scale data challenges using cutting-edge algorithms in information retrieval, machine learning, and ranking to deliver a high-availability, low-latency service that directly supports business objectives. Team members apply cloud-native architecture principles and software design patterns to build scalable, resilient systems. Collaboration drives innovation, with a focus on continuous improvement, technical excellence, and data-driven decision-making to enhance platform capabilities and overall engineering productivity.

Requirements

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong experience in software development lifecycle management, encompassing coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and maintenance.
  • Proficiency in API design, software prototyping, and applying software design patterns for secure, modular, and maintainable solutions.
  • Ability to lead technical design reviews and remedial actions to uphold quality and alignment with architectural standards.
  • Skilled in DevOps engineering practices to enhance infrastructure, tooling, and developer productivity.
  • Data-driven decision-making capabilities to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
  • Demonstrated mentorship and leadership fostering technical growth and collaboration across teams.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities
