Innova SolutionsCharlotte, NC
Hybrid

About The Position

A client of Innova Solutions is immediately hiring for a Software Engineer. This is a Full Time – Contract position with a duration of 12 Months with possible extension. The role is Hybrid, requiring 3 days onsite and 2 days remote, with available locations in Irving TX, Charlotte NC, and Phoenix AZ. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, configuring, and maintaining Hadoop clusters to ensure scalability, reliability, and performance. You will implement resource management strategies (YARN, MapReduce) to optimize workloads, monitor cluster health, troubleshoot issues, and fine-tune configurations for efficiency. Collaboration with data engineering teams to support ingestion pipelines and distributed processing is key. You will also plan and execute tenant migrations from legacy systems or older Hadoop distributions to newer versions or alternative platforms. Scheduling and applying regular updates to keep the Hadoop ecosystem secure and stable, performing proactive maintenance activities such as log rotation, disk cleanup, and service restarts, and validating patch compatibility with existing workloads before deployment are crucial. Maintaining rollback strategies in case of patch failures and assessing Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) patches for relevance to the Hadoop environment are also part of the role. Evaluating MapR distribution patches for bug fixes, performance improvements, and security updates, and continuously monitoring for CVEs (Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures) affecting Hadoop, Red Hat, or MapR are essential. You will provide Tier-2/Tier-3 support for Hadoop-related incidents.
