Software Engineer - Trust & Platform Security

Snowflake•Bellevue, WA
•$160,000 - $230,000

About The Position

Snowflake is hiring a Software Engineer for its Trust & Platform Security team. The team is building cyber security monitoring that enables discovery, detection, and remediation in one system, along with network and data enforcement engines for context-aware ingress, data exfiltration protection, and unified data movement policies. The role works at the intersection of security policy and system enforcement to build robust, scalable perimeter controls integrated with context-aware access frameworks. The engineer will build components for detecting security vulnerabilities, threats, shadow AI, and other agentic threats; develop data loss and ransomware detection mechanisms with low false-positive rates; and contribute to product design documents focused on reliability, latency, and auditability. Working with senior engineers and Product Management, the engineer will translate requirements into scoped work, write secure and well-tested code, participate in reviews, and own features through implementation, testing, and production rollout with guidance. This is described as an early-career role with meaningful production ownership and opportunities to learn from experienced infrastructure and security engineers. Snowflake seeks people who are curious about AI, experimental, low-ego, adaptable, and comfortable collaborating in a fast-moving environment.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Working knowledge of network security fundamentals such as TLS/SSL, HTTP/S, and DNS, Zero Trust principles, or Data Loss Prevention (DLP) concepts.
  • Solid coding skills in SQL, Java, and Python, with exposure to distributed or backend systems and willingness to gain full-stack exposure.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure and their security or networking controls.
  • Eagerness to learn, take feedback, and grow ownership over larger parts of the system.
  • Clear communication and comfort collaborating with cross-functional partners.
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to cloud-native security controls such as VPC Service Controls or Private Link.
  • Experience with egress control, network perimeter enforcement, or policy engines.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and tooling.
  • Contributions to open-source security projects, security research, or CTFs.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship components to detect security vulnerabilities, threats, shadow AI, and other agentic threats.
  • Develop data loss and ransomware detection mechanisms and ensure signals yield low false-positive rates.
  • Write and contribute to design documents for product features, considering reliability, latency, and auditability.
  • Work with senior engineers and Product Management to translate requirements into well-scoped tasks and deliver them independently.
  • Write well-tested, secure code and participate in code reviews.
  • Own features through implementation, testing, and production rollout with guidance from senior teammates.
