The Illumio Zero Trust Platform Engineer leads the design, deployment, configuration, and optimization of Illumio Core and Illumio Edge in on-premises, virtualized, and cloud environments. The role supports the architecture and implementation of Zero Trust Segmentation policies, including application dependency mapping, labeling frameworks, enforcement boundaries, and zone-based controls. It develops workflows, runbooks, dashboards, and segmentation models for enterprise workloads and critical applications, and integrates Illumio with SIEM, SOAR, CMDB, C2C, vulnerability scanners, cloud-native controls, and enterprise automation pipelines. The engineer analyzes traffic using Illumio VEN telemetry and helps develop policy recommendations to reduce attack surface and limit east-west movement. Responsibilities also include troubleshooting performance, VEN installation issues, policy conflicts, and platform health across distributed infrastructure; partnering with application owners to onboard workloads and validate segmentation plans; and supporting change management. The role performs lifecycle management, including upgrades, health checks, certificate operations, and policy governance, and collaborates with security architects to align policy models with broader Zero Trust and NIST 800-207 strategies. It also contributes to architectural standards, documentation, and enterprise security playbooks. Applicants must hold a Secret clearance and be able to obtain specified DoD cybersecurity certifications within the stated timeframes. Booz Allen describes its people-first culture as prioritizing collaboration. If classified as remote, occasional in-person work at a Booz Allen or customer facility may be required; hybrid and onsite roles have the facility attendance expectations described in the posting.
