About The Position

State Farm is seeking Software Engineers with 1-4 years of experience in Java and OO Design Principles to join their team. The role focuses on modernization efforts within Property & Casualty systems. This is a hybrid position requiring candidates to live within a 180-mile radius of Bloomington, IL, or Richardson, TX, and involves a mix of remote and in-office work. The engineer will be responsible for implementing complex solutions, including functional requirements, coding, support, and adhering to agile team principles. The role requires application development skills, strong writing and collaboration abilities, and excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • 1-4 years working experience with Java and OO Design Principles.
  • Experience with Full Stack Development (Java/J2EE, Python, JavaScript, React, Node.js, SQL, SOAP/REST, Spring Framework, Splunk, etc.).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and leveraging tools like GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins and Docker.
  • Experience with test automation and various products (Karate, Cucumber, Codecept, etc.).
  • Experience with version control tools such as Git.
  • Knowledge of agile methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate and build relationships locally & across locations.
  • Clear communication skills, both verbal & written.
  • Strong aptitude and demonstrated ability to learn new languages and frameworks.
  • Possess technical curiosity and enthusiasm to learn new technologies and follow industry best-practices and trends.

Nice To Haves

  • Foundational knowledge of cloud technologies such as AWS with hands on experience a plus.
  • Enthusiasm for innovation, diversity of thought, and new ideas.
