Software Engineer, New Grad - Query Engines

Palantir Technologies•New York, NY
•$145,000 - $155,000

About The Position

Palantir is hiring a new graduate Software Engineer for its query engines team. The team applies open-source data technologies to challenging problems and builds the data-processing infrastructure underlying Palantir Foundry. This infrastructure supports products and workloads such as no-code pipelines, interactive analysis, and processing that keeps the Ontology up to date. The role works on the systems that represent computations, optimize query plans, execute operators, and read and write data efficiently. The team builds on and extends Apache Spark, Apache DataFusion, and Apache Iceberg, incorporating open-source engine and table-format advances into demanding customer environments. Working with experienced engineers, the new hire will contribute to production systems—for example, by writing planning rules, adding capabilities to a native execution engine, or improving large-table scans—and take work through design, code review, testing, and release. Correctness, compatibility, and predictable performance are central to the work. The position offers the opportunity to learn modern data systems from the inside and apply systems engineering to consequential real-world problems. Prior experience with the listed technologies is not required; the team expects the hire to learn them.
