About The Position

Steel Dynamics is seeking a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain software applications and services. This role involves troubleshooting, debugging, and resolving software defects and performance issues, as well as documenting application logic and technical designs. The engineer will follow secure coding practices and organizational development standards, manage assigned work items, and collaborate with end-users to interpret business requirements. A key part of the role includes designing, implementing, and maintaining SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and triggers with a focus on performance. Continuous learning and skill development are also essential.

Requirements

• Proven experience in software engineering or development role (frontend and backend development)
• Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages
• Excellent troubleshooting skills to analyze problems, identify root causes, and implement solutions
• Proven experience in developing and maintaining SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and triggers in a production environment.
• Proficiency in the use of REST API and Webhooks
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Demonstrated accountability and ownership for assigned work

Nice To Haves

• Experience with modern application architecture and integration
• Familiarity with modern automated testing frameworks

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software applications and services with modern tool set (.Net, Phyton, GIT)
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software defects and performance issues
• Document application logic, technical designs, and implementation details
• Follow secure coding practices and FRG organizational development standards
• Independently manage assigned work items and commitments
• Work with the end-user to interpret business requirements
• Design, implement, and maintain SQL queries, views, stored procedures, and triggers with attention to appropriateness and performance
• Continuous learning and skill development
