Software Engineer
About The Position
WR is hiring a Software Engineer to formulate and design software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure design outcomes and consequences. The role is located in Virginia Beach, Virginia (Dam Neck), requires an active Secret clearance to start, and involves 5%–10% travel. The selected candidate will develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation; analyze, define, and document system requirements; and assess the feasibility, cost, schedule, and compatibility of software solutions. Candidates must hold a relevant bachelor's degree and have at least three years of professional software development experience. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment third-party background check, which may verify employment, education or certifications, criminal history, driving records, and other information related to suitability.
Requirements
- Active Secret clearance required to start.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific discipline.
- Three or more years of professional software development experience using one or more of the following: C, C++, C#, Python, Visual Basic, ORM technologies, SQL, containerization technologies, and/or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Experience with one or more of the following technologies: C, C++, C#, Visual Basic, Python, RHEL, SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL, and Docker.
- Demonstrated software development experience using one or more of these languages within Unix, Windows, Linux, and/or MS-DOS operating environments.
- Pass a pre-employment third-party background check.
Responsibilities
- Develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflows, logical processes, hardware and operating system environments, interfaces with other systems, internal and external checks and controls, and outputs.
- Analyze and estimate feasibility, costs, time, and compatibility with hardware and other programs.
