About The Position

SAIC is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to serve as a subject matter expert in developing, deploying, and sustaining National Security Space systems. Based in El Segundo, California, this role supports the Horizon contract within the Space C2 Program Management Office and works closely with the Space Systems Command’s Battle Management Command, Control, Communications & Intelligence Program Office. The position collaborates with government, technical, and industry stakeholders to design, integrate, configure, and optimize data-driven software solutions for mission execution in complex operational environments. The role contributes to software development, system architecture, and expansion of the Space C2 program, emphasizing Modular Open Systems Architecture, multi-domain integration, and Agile software development. The Software Engineer works with program managers, product owners, systems engineers, users, contracting officers, and partner organizations. Responsibilities also include supporting software sustainment, enhancement, and modernization across secure DoD environments and classification levels, and documenting technical solutions and engineering decisions for maintainability, knowledge transfer, and government oversight. The position requires an active Top Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Program access, and willingness to undergo a polygraph examination. The listed salary range is $140,001–$180,000. The job is full-time, day shift, on-site in El Segundo, California, with travel approximately 25% of the time.

Requirements

  • At least 9 years of experience and a bachelor’s degree, or an additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • At least 3 years of experience supporting software engineering, systems integration, platform implementation, or application development in DoD, IC, SAP/SCI, or other complex mission environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with Palantir Foundry, Gotham, or similar data-integration or operational decision-support platforms supporting mission or enterprise objectives.
  • Experience developing, integrating, or configuring software solutions for data workflows, operational use cases, user-facing applications, and cross-platform interoperability.
  • Experience with modern data-integration concepts, pipelines, APIs, data modeling, and workflow automation in secure enterprise or mission systems.
  • Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain Sensitive Compartmented Information and Special Program access.
  • Willingness to consent to a polygraph examination.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with cloud-enabled software architectures, DevSecOps practices, and software deployment in classified or mission-sensitive environments.
  • Experience implementing or supporting Palantir Foundry or Gotham in operational, defense, intelligence, or mission command environments.
  • Experience supporting Operationally Accepted software applications, data environments, or mission applications within SSC, Space Force, or broader DoD mission systems.
  • Strong understanding of data ontology, data modeling, object relationships, workflow automation, and operational application configuration in Palantir environments.
  • Experience integrating disparate mission systems, intelligence data, C2 systems, readiness data, or space-domain awareness data into a unified operational environment.
  • Experience developing dashboards, mission applications, or user workflows that help commanders, operators, analysts, or mission planners make faster, better-informed decisions.
  • Familiarity with software solutions supporting space operations, integrated fires, command and control, or joint/combined operational mission threads.
  • Experience operating in DevSecOps, platform engineering, or hybrid-cloud environments supporting software delivery in secure programs.
  • Strong systems-engineering mindset and ability to connect technical implementation details to operational mission outcomes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with engineers, architects, operators, and senior government leadership, translating technical concepts into mission-relevant value.
  • Proven ability to work in highly regulated, fast-moving environments requiring technical excellence, mission responsiveness, and stakeholder coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain mission-focused software solutions using messaging technologies, patterns, protocols, data structures, and data engineering.
  • Use Palantir Foundry technologies, including Ontology SDK, Foundry Transforms, Code Workbooks, Pipeline Builder, and AI/ML integrations, to design solutions.
  • Develop and implement MOSA-compliant architectures that provide modular, scalable, interoperable software and joint-domain integration.
  • Lead Agile development efforts and apply DevSecOps principles to support iterative, secure, and reliable delivery of mission-critical capabilities.
  • Architect and develop multi-domain data integration pipelines using Palantir Foundry to aggregate, normalize, and integrate sensor, intelligence, and C2 data.
  • Contribute to systems engineering documentation, including CONOPs, requirements definitions, and integration blueprints.
  • Support refinement of program acquisition strategies and provide guidance on technical challenges and solutions.
  • Use Palantir Foundry capabilities for multi-domain data fusion to support operational insight and joint-domain decision-making aligned with frameworks such as CJADC2.
  • Interface with combatant commands, service components, and Intelligence Community agencies, providing technical advice and supporting alignment with DoD joint-domain strategy and standards.
  • Support software sustainment, enhancement, and modernization for mission-critical capabilities in secure DoD environments and across varying classification levels.
  • Document technical solutions, interfaces, workflows, and engineering decisions to support maintainability, knowledge transfer, and government oversight.
  • Collaborate with program managers, product owners, systems engineers, users, contracting officers, and external or partner organizations to support mission alignment and operational success.
