Software Engineer- Semiconductor Technology (C#/.NET)

Keysight Technologies, Inc.•Santa Rosa, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Keysight Laboratories' High Frequency Technology Center (HFTC) is seeking a software engineer to design, build, and improve software used across Keysight's Santa Rosa wafer fab, test floor, and assembly lines. The software supports wafer maps, electrical test orchestration and automation, data transformation, and manufacturing execution system (MES) extensions. The role partners closely with test engineering and works directly with the engineers, operators, and technicians who use the software. Most development is in C#/.NET, including desktop applications designed to continue operating during network or server outages, as well as ASP.NET web applications and APIs backed by SQL Server. The team uses static analysis, code review, CI/CD, internal package feeds, and telemetry for monitoring and diagnosis. Newer server-side services run in containers on OpenShift. The engineer will develop applications and shared tools, build data pipelines and ETLs, integrate with the Critical Manufacturing MES, develop wafer-test software, extend core systems and test-plan frameworks, and create factory support tools. They will also help keep production software reliable and diagnosable, modernize existing codebases, and turn internal users' needs into dependable tools. This is an in-person role requiring hands-on work with manufacturing systems in Santa Rosa, California. The position may be filled at multiple levels based on experience and skill. Access to certain export-controlled items requires U.S. person status or applicable U.S. government authorization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 2–10+ years of professional software development experience in C#/.NET (preferred), or Java or C++ with willingness to work in C#.
  • Experience with relational SQL, including writing non-trivial queries and investigating query performance.
  • Experience getting up to speed on a large existing codebase used by real users and changing it safely.
  • Experience with automated testing and a Git pull-request workflow that includes code review.
  • Methodical production-system debugging using hypotheses, a debugger, logs, and data.
  • Experience working directly with internal customers and documenting work as it progresses.
  • Ability to work in person and hands-on with manufacturing systems in Santa Rosa, California.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident, or a protected individual with U.S. government authorization to access export-controlled items, as applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with manufacturing, industrial, or lab data systems; semiconductor experience involving wafer maps, lots, or yield is a bonus.
  • Experience integrating software with equipment or vendor systems, including device APIs, file and message interfaces, MES, or ERP.
  • Experience designing frameworks or libraries used by other developers.
  • Windows desktop development experience with WPF/MVVM.
  • Experience with .NET web applications and APIs.
  • Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins), production monitoring (Sentry), and deployment using PowerShell or Chocolatey.
  • Experience with containers, such as Docker, OpenShift, or Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

  • Build new applications for engineering groups, from initial requirements through production, and help other groups build their own applications.
  • Design shared libraries, APIs, MCP servers, and other tools used by developers and engineers across the organization.
  • Build data pipelines and ETLs that move and transform manufacturing data between databases, applications, and commercial platforms.
  • Extend and integrate with the Critical Manufacturing manufacturing execution system (MES).
  • Develop software for wafer test stations, including device sampling, wafer-location navigation, dynamic statistical device-health assessment, and complex data forwarding.
  • Extend core systems, including the wafer map platform and the framework test engineers use to write test plans.
  • Build factory support software such as SPC systems, calculators, and analytical tools.
  • Work with engineers, operators, and technicians to translate their needs into useful software tools.
  • Maintain the reliability and diagnosability of production software and improve existing codebases through better architecture, testing, and modernization.
  • Document systems and their operation as work progresses.
