About the Role: At Planet Labs, we deliver daily global satellite imagery and geospatial insights that empower businesses, governments, and researchers worldwide. The Corporate Engineering team is building a world-class center of excellence driving AI strategy, enablement, adoption, and business partnership across the Planet organization. We are scaling AI capabilities to transform internal workflows, enhance engineering velocity, and create groundbreaking software experiences. We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer – Enterprise AI to lead the hands-on deployment of enterprise-grade AI applications, custom agentic workflows, and foundational AI infrastructure (AI Gateway & Agent Registry) while ensuring strict alignment with regulatory compliance standards. This is a full-time, hybrid role which will require you to work from our San Francisco office 3 days per week.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience developing and deploying applications using GCP and AWS ecosystem
  • Learning mindset with the ability to adapt to constant change
  • Experience working in regulated engineering environments requiring strict compliance standards (ITAR, EAR, or FedRAMP)
  • Expertise in GCP and AWS
  • Experience with AI Gateways, Agent Registries, and AI orchestration platforms
  • Expertise with Python, Vector Databases, and SQL

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Gemini Enterprise App and Claude
  • Code / Cowork is a huge plus

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain production-ready Enterprise AI applications and internal tools leveraging Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, Cursor, and Claude.
  • Partner to build end-to-end intelligent agent experiences, and automate complex business workflows in partnership with internal business units.
  • Support the evaluation, customization, and integration of platforms like Google Gemini Enterprise App.
  • Maintain a centralized AI Gateway to manage LLM API routing, rate limiting, cost controls, and model selection across all internal teams.
  • Integrate an AI Agent Registry to catalogue, govern, and monitor agents across the company.
  • Implement robust logging, monitoring, and alerting frameworks to ensure all AI touchpoints are accurately tracked and managed.
  • Manage specific AI data pipelines and infrastructure to adhere to ITAR and EAR standards.
  • Collaborate with Security and Legal teams to institute strict data access controls, secret management, and compliance checks for all AI integrations and development.
  • Promote industry best practices for AI engineering.
  • Evangelize AI tools and capabilities across non-technical and technical business units to accelerate enterprise adoption and productivity.
