About The Position

SMBC Capital Markets is a derivatives trading company established in 1988 and based in New York City, with offices in London and Hong Kong. As an established derivatives dealer with a broad product portfolio, particularly in interest rates and foreign exchange, SMBC CM seeks a Software Engineer to build and maintain a variety of software applications, tools, and functions to support its business. The role involves interaction with the larger development team, sharing designs and solutions, and contributing to the team's overall objectives.

Requirements

  • 5-7+ years of experience in large & complex application development environments with complicated data schemas.
  • Professional experience with C/C++.
  • Proven experience in Object-Oriented Design/Object-Oriented Programming (OOD/OOP).
  • Strong SQL knowledge.
  • Experience in application designs for complicated process flows.
  • Experience in analyzing and designing complicated Data/Object Relations.
  • Experience in source control tools and scheduling tools.
  • Must be a good team player and capable of working cooperatively or independently.
  • Must be a quick learner and problem solver.
  • 5 years of experience in the financial industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Interest Rate Swap industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Enhance post-trade processing functions such as trade payment calculation, payment processing, and trade regulatory reporting as part of the trading system development team.
  • Participate in projects to migrate legacy systems into new platforms, requiring hands-on development, quick learning, and adaptability to new technologies.
  • Take responsibility for leading project/application design and overseeing project development.
  • Support the trading system, including responding to user inquiries and resolving batch job issues.
  • Follow SMBC CM development standards and contribute to the overall agenda of the development team.
