Software Engineer
About The Position
PayPal, Inc. seeks a Software Engineer in San Jose, CA. This role involves designing and developing complex, multi-tier distributed software applications, with a focus on low-latency, high-availability Java applications. The engineer will build and implement high-performing backend software services to create resilient, configurable, and scalable payment platform solutions. Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex technical problems on a platform used by multiple payment products, delivering in an agile environment through iterative development, and communicating with cross-functional teams. The role also requires adherence to code quality standards, implementation of automation for efficiency monitoring, and monitoring/resolving performance issues in production applications. Partial telecommuting is permitted from within a commutable distance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field plus two years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation.
- Experience in designing and developing large-scale software applications using Object-Oriented Design and Java
- Experience in working on Spring Framework.
- Experience in build tools like Maven and test frameworks like Junit and TestNg
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful web services
- Database experience with SQL or Oracle or MongoDb
- Experience in working on Microservice applications and cloud platform
- Experience in working on distributed messaging system like Kafka
