Software Engineer
About The Position
Virta Health is seeking a backend-focused Software Engineer to build reliable systems and improve data accuracy across member, client, and operational workflows. The role focuses on automating processes that support seamless care and transparent reporting, enabling faster decision-making, reducing manual work, and ensuring data is accurate and accessible for internal teams and external partners. The engineer will also use modern AI tools and techniques to enhance development workflows and identify valuable opportunities to apply AI in business processes. Virta Health is a remote-first company with office hubs in Denver and San Francisco. The role may involve contact with sensitive patient information governed by HIPAA, and the employee must follow Virta’s security and privacy procedures. Security and privacy training will be provided.
Requirements
- 5–7 years of experience shipping backend code in a high-quality production environment, with exposure to data-centric systems.
- Experience building microservices in production.
- Experience with data and event-based architectures, including API development, SQL or NoSQL datastores, and messaging queues.
- Experience with Golang.
- Experience with a cloud platform such as Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
- Strong communication skills and a proven history of interfacing with technical and non-technical business stakeholders.

Responsibilities
- Build and enhance scalable Golang microservices for eligibility, coverage, billing, and client-facing systems.
- Automate and streamline operational workflows to reduce manual data handling and improve the accuracy and availability of member and client data.
- Design and deliver self-service tools that let finance, operations, and client teams independently manage processes and configurations.
- Ensure member, client, and operational data is accurate, consistent, and traceable for internal decision-making and external reporting.
- Work with data and AI teams to explore AI applications for data validation, process automation, and anomaly detection.
- Contribute to client-facing APIs that enable seamless data exchange between Virta and its customers.
- Follow Virta’s security and privacy procedures when handling sensitive patient information.
