About The Position

Steelhead Technologies is hiring a Software Engineer to work on their ERP system that supports metal finishing and fabrication shops nationwide. This system is critical for customer operations, handling everything from quoting and work orders to inventory and invoicing. The role offers a direct feedback loop with users, allowing engineers to see the impact of their work. Developers collaborate closely in the same room, with a tech lead to support growth. Engineers will own features, take initiative on challenging problems, and act as product managers for their work, gathering requirements from various internal teams and customers. The technology stack includes React, Node.js, TypeScript, Postgres, and GraphQL. The company is located in Calumet, Michigan.

Requirements

• B.S. in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 0-3 years of post-graduation development experience
• SQL and data model design
• AI-native development experience
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Action-oriented and self-directed
• Focused on making great product experiences
• Development experience with React.js or a similar web app framework

• GraphQL experience
• Experience with AI looping

Responsibilities

• Collect requirements from multiple sources and lead development of large features
• AI-native development using Claude Code or Cursor
• Work with tech leads on architecture and data model design
• Direct the development of large efforts through loops and multiple agents
• Develop test plans for your feature and thoroughly test different workflows
• Collaborate with QA to work through testing feedback
• Collect feedback through operational logs and product metrics
