•$117,800 - $200,300•Onsite

About The Position

KLA is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer in Test Automation to design, build, and scale code-driven automation for UI, REST/API, and system-level testing of software and hardware-integrated semiconductor products. The engineer will create maintainable automation frameworks, implement reliable automated tests, and integrate test execution, data extraction, and reporting into repeatable pipelines that provide actionable quality signals. The position is part of KLA’s Semiconductor Products and Customers business unit and Central Engineering organization. The team develops inspection, metrology, analytics, and related technologies used in semiconductor and electronics manufacturing. The role works across Windows desktop applications, REST interfaces, databases, and complex hardware-integrated test environments, balancing automation with focused manual validation where needed. The engineer collaborates with cross-functional engineering and business teams to plan and execute test strategies aligned with releases, and applies intelligent algorithms and business logic to investigate failures and present findings through dashboards and reporting tools.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of hands-on experience in software test automation.
  • Proficiency in one or more of C++, C#, Java, Python, or R.
  • Experience with a machine learning framework such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, or similar.
  • Strong SQL and NoSQL database skills and data preprocessing experience.
  • Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, machine learning models, and statistical methods.
  • Deep understanding of profiling, scaling, and tuning relational and non-relational databases, such as SQL Server, Redis, or MongoDB.
  • Ability to understand system-level requirements and translate them into sound software design.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture, design patterns, UI frameworks, and API design.
  • Self-starter who learns quickly and adapts to dynamic schedules, changing requirements, and multidisciplinary work in a complex semiconductor environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Minimum education and experience: doctorate with 0 years of related work experience, master’s degree with 3 years of related work experience, or bachelor’s degree with 5 years of related work experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Kafka, Kubernetes, MySQL, Hadoop, BigQuery, or other open-source databases.
  • Experience with continuous integration tools and processes; Jenkins is a plus.
  • Experience with REST API testing tools and automation frameworks; Postman or RestSharp is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain automated UI test suites for Windows desktop applications, improving the stability and maintainability of UI automation assets.
  • Design reusable UI automation components, including object repositories and wrappers, to simplify maintenance and support scalable test development.
  • Create and maintain automated tests for REST interfaces and service integrations using appropriate API testing tools and frameworks.
  • Support and extend API test coverage initiatives and improve pipeline signal quality through notifications, dashboards, and regression enablement.
  • Own end-to-end automated validation for key features and system workflows involving software interactions with hardware and instrumentation; use targeted manual testing as needed.
  • Collaborate with engineering, algorithms, systems, hardware, applications, manufacturing, and marketing teams to plan and execute release-aligned test strategies.
  • Build automation and infrastructure for complex bench and tool environments, including hardware-related scenarios requiring focused validation.
  • Lead test planning and execute test strategies in collaboration with cross-functional team members.
  • Build systems involving databases and KLA’s in-house automated testing framework.
  • Use intelligent algorithms, including LLMs, and business logic to identify root causes of software failures and present findings in actionable formats using Power BI, dashboards, and reporting or graphing tools.
