About The Position

GDIT is seeking a Software Test Automation Engineer to support a mission-critical software application within the NCE Testing Organization in Springfield, Virginia. The role focuses on software quality and test automation, rather than general DevOps engineering, and requires working onsite five days per week in a classified environment. The engineer will work alongside developers and an existing tester to establish an initial automated testing framework, develop and maintain regression tests, create effective test cases, and improve validation of software changes. The successful candidate will move between manual and automated testing, write or modify test scripts, and take initiative in establishing practical, repeatable testing practices. The role includes collaboration throughout the development lifecycle, participation in Agile ceremonies and formal customer test events, test documentation and defect tracking, and assessment of quality risks. Performance or load testing and test environment support may also be required. The position requires an active TS/SCI clearance with the required polygraph, U.S. citizenship, and at least five years of related experience. A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered subject to contract and customer requirements. The likely salary range is $113,900–$154,100, with compensation determined by experience, location, and potentially contractual requirements. The position is onsite, has 40 scheduled weekly hours, and requires no travel.

Requirements

  • Experience designing and executing regression tests for software applications.
  • Ability to translate requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria into effective test scenarios.
  • Experience identifying, documenting, tracking, and retesting software defects.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with software developers and other technical team members.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work onsite five days per week in Springfield, Virginia.
  • U.S. citizenship, as required for the position and customer environment.

  • Track defects through resolution, validate fixes, and maintain regression coverage for previously identified issues.
  • Support formal test events, including planning, configuration, execution, results analysis, and coordination with the customer testing organization.
