If you’re excited to learn more about us, we can’t wait to learn more about you. Role Summary Our IT teams support that mission by building applications and products that serve our customers. We’re looking for an Investment Management Software Engineer Senior Specialist that is interested in software evolution and innovation within our Order, Trade, and Compliance (OTC) Technology Team. The ideal candidate would be passionate about applying modern engineering principles for building and delivering software to market. Primary responsibilities as a very "Hands-on" Developer for this position are to demonstrate technical proficiency and use of standard methodologies in our software development team. You will work closely with our Technical Leads, Product Owners, and Architects to identify and implement solutions that support the company’s core investment management (portfolio management, trading, and compliance) operations. These solutions will be delivered to our clients through Agile development. The role reports to the Director, IT & Investment Operations Technology. This hybrid position will be based out of our Kansas City, Missouri office. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Experience: At least 5+ years of hands-on corporate experience developing software.
  • Programming Skills: Proficiency in Java or similar languages (e.g., Python, C#).
  • Database Knowledge: Hands-on use of SQL and experience with relational databases.
  • Agile Knowledge: Experience working with Agile development methodologies.
  • Version Control: Experience with Git or other version control systems.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team Player: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Finance Knowledge: Interest or experience in the finance or asset management industry is a plus.
  • CI/CD Tools: Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools and practices.
  • Unit Testing: Experience in writing and implementing unit tests (e.g., JUnit).

Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Development: Development of both front-end and back-end components of our applications, ensuring seamless integration and functionality.
  • Programming: Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code primarily in Java, with opportunities to work with other languages such as Python.
  • Database Management: Work with relational databases (e.g., DB2, Oracle) to design, implement, and optimize data storage solutions.
  • Agile Methodologies: Participate in SAFe Agile development processes, contributing to sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Version Control: Use Git and GitHub for source control, ensuring code integrity and collaboration.
  • Testing and Debugging: Conduct unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure the quality and reliability of the codebase.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other developers, participate in code reviews, and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Learning and Development: Know the latest industry trends and best practices and continuously seek opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  • Support: Support and directly interact with Portfolio Managers, Traders, Compliance officers, and others.
