About The Position

The Software Engineer SME will maintain and enhance the core ServiceNow platform by adding new capabilities to improve functionality for various tenants. This role involves developing, testing, and deploying ServiceNow updates based on customer requirements, and customizing and configuring ServiceNow applications. The engineer will collaborate closely with ServiceNow System Engineers and developers to design solutions, manage updates, and handle configuration changes. They will also identify system deficiencies, propose solutions, and support ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of processes, standards, policies, methodologies, and tools. Ensuring reliable, reproducible, and consistently configured development and production environments is crucial. The position includes participating in production support, providing end-user assistance, and documenting testing procedures and maintenance activities. Researching and adopting new technologies and standards to enhance platform capabilities, designing, developing, and modifying enterprise-wide systems and applications software, and contributing to system and deployment planning while ensuring compliance with software standards are also key responsibilities. Evaluating hardware-software interfaces, operational requirements, and overall system characteristics to optimize performance will be part of the role.

Requirements

TS/SCI with polygraph
Minimum of sixteen (16) years of relevant experience, with a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
Minimum of five years, hands-on developing ServiceNow products
Strong understanding of ServiceNow Development Platform including, but not limited to ITSM, ITOM, SPM, HR Module, Customer Service Management (CSM), Asset Management, Change Management, Customer Development, etc.
Proven significant success developing ServiceNow products using JavaScript and other coding applications
Database Administration (Oracle or MySQL) experience
Ability to efficiently and appropriately estimate work effort requirements
Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal methods
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Able to adapt to a constantly changing environment
Aptitude and willingness to work with variety of newer emerging technologies/tools as opportunities demand
Ability to deliver enhance functionality, aid with new implementations, and provide continuous support within the scheduled time while preserving system integrity required
High degree of initiative, creativity, and technical ability to function on this team required
Ability to identify issues and implement corrective actions
Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
Current ServiceNow Certified System Administrator (CSA) certification.

Responsibilities

Develop, test, and deploy ServiceNow updates based on customer requirements.
Customize and configure ServiceNow applications, facilitating the rollout of new applications and modules; including configuring the Application User Interface and workflows.
Collaborate closely with ServiceNow System Engineers and developers to design solutions, manage updates, and handle configuration changes or requests.
Identify system deficiencies and propose effective solutions.
Support ongoing maintenance and continuous improvement of processes, standards, policies, methodologies, and tools.
Ensure development and production environments are reliable, reproducible, and consistently configured across Development, Testing, Integration, and Production stages.
Participate in production support and provide end-user assistance as needed.
Document testing procedures and maintenance activities related to system corrections.
Research and adopt new technologies and standards to enhance platform capabilities.
Design, develop, and modify enterprise-wide systems and applications software.
Contribute to system and deployment planning while ensuring compliance with software standards.
Evaluate hardware-software interfaces, operational requirements, and overall system characteristics to optimize performance.
