Software Engineer–Simulation (Experienced or Senior)
About The Position
The Boeing Company is seeking Experienced or Senior Software Engineers–Simulation to support its Simulation Integration and Delivery (SID) team in Berkeley, Missouri. The team provides simulation software across Boeing’s commercial, defense, and internal programs, working closely with programs to help deliver hardware and software that support Boeing’s customers. Its tools support software and hardware verification. The role works in small developmental teams and may sometimes involve independent work. Agile practices—including sprint planning, scrums, retrospectives, and demonstrations—are expected. The engineer will collaborate with others, support customer satisfaction and process improvement, and contribute across multiple programs. The work involves developing innovative solutions to complex problems and adapting to new development environments and technologies. This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance and program access. Applicants must meet U.S. export-control requirements as a U.S. Person. Boeing will not sponsor employment visas. The role includes 10% travel and offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. A technical assessment is required as part of the selection process. The position is not safety sensitive and is not contingent upon a program award.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- At least 4 years of experience in software programming with C, C++, C#, and .NET, including coding, debugging, and development.
- At least 4 years of experience with the Software/Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret clearance, including interim pre-start and final post-start clearance, and special program access.
- Must meet U.S. export-control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
- Must complete a technical assessment as part of the selection process.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and at least 9 years of related work experience; or a bachelor’s degree and at least 13 years of directly related work experience; or at least 17 years of related, relevant experience.
- At least 2 years of experience programming in Python.
- At least 2 years of experience programming in Rust.
- Active security clearance.
- Experience with embedded software and hardware-interfacing software.
- Experience working across software-interface boundaries, including hardware, firmware, and software, with technical coordination across interfacing teams.
- Experience handling multiple projects simultaneously.
- Decision-making ability to complete efforts with minimal requirements definition.
- Experience in software development using Visual Studio.
- Experience with avionics and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Experience with Agile methodology.
- Experience with Git, continuous integration, and cloud computing technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and develop simulation models, visualizations, virtual environments and platforms, and frameworks to enhance the performance, safety, and durability of software and hardware systems throughout the product lifecycle.
- Partner with stakeholders to review and identify simulation requirements and the dynamics of the systems being simulated.
- Perform design, modeling, simulation, testing, and analysis to assess and optimize system performance and capabilities.
- Collect and process data for use in simulations.
- Validate, verify, and refine simulation software code, models, simulations, test procedures, and test environments; execute test procedures and document test results and models against real-world data, test data, benchmarks, or similar models.
- Document and maintain technical code, algorithms, specifications, and descriptions of simulation models.
- Partner with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate simulation software with hardware devices and systems.
- Implement current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and methods in the software engineering simulation environment.
- Modernize, migrate, sustain, and update simulation software to adapt legacy systems to new operating systems.
- Perform simulation software project management functions.
