Software Engineer / Scrum Master - PLNR (26-394)
About The Position
The Planner (PLNR) Product Team is seeking a hybrid Scrum Master and Software Engineer. Reporting to the Product Owner, this person will provide servant leadership while contributing hands-on Java development. Approximately 30% of the role is devoted to facilitating Agile ceremonies—including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives—and guiding the team through Program Increment (PI) planning, feature decomposition, and cross-team dependency management. The remaining 70% focuses on designing, coding, testing, debugging, and maintaining Java applications, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools for the Planner subsystem. The ideal candidate has Scrum Master experience, preferably with certification, and 3–5+ years of Java development experience in a missile defense or high-availability systems environment. Familiarity with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) for government financial tracking is a plus. Success is measured by timely delivery of sprint and PI objectives, strong team engagement, rapid removal of impediments, and delivery of high-quality mission-critical software meeting performance, security, and reliability standards. The role is full-time and on-site in Colorado Springs, Colorado, in a secure, classified workspace. A Top Secret clearance with SCI is required.
Requirements
- Experience supporting software engineering on DoD programs or missile defense.
- Experience decomposing Agile features into user stories with clear acceptance criteria for PI and Sprint planning.
- Experience working in a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) environment.
- Experience leading Agile teams supporting complex DoD software systems.
- Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 1+ years of experience.
- Top Secret clearance with SCI.
- Agile certification such as Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Scrum Professional (CSP), PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or Professional Scrum Master (PSM).
Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
