Software Engineer, Rider Quality

LyftToronto, ON
$108,000 - $135,000Hybrid

About The Position

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive. The Rider Quality team is a critical starting point for this mission - but we're not doing traditional QA. We’re building the future of quality engineering. This is an opportunity to step into a mid-level role where you’ll do more than write code - you’ll help build and evolve systems that improve how engineers deliver products faster, happier, and with fewer bugs. We are shifting away from manual processes and legacy automation frameworks, and investing in Artificial Intelligence and agentic approaches to drive a "shift left" across the organization. Success in this role is measured by tangible impact, including improvements in developer experience, engineering efficiency, and reductions in production issues.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in software engineering with exposure to building reliable systems.
  • Interest in or exposure to AI/ML concepts, particularly in testing or automation contexts.
  • Proficiency in Python and/or Go.
  • Familiarity with mobile development concepts (Swift/Kotlin is a plus, but not required).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a desire to improve systems through automation.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills.

  • Partner with QA and Test Automation Engineers to identify gaps and implement scalable solutions.
  • Support accessibility testing and monitoring efforts across the development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with teammates and learn from senior engineers to grow your technical expertise.
  • Work with technologies such as Python and Go, with exposure to mobile platforms (Swift/Kotlin).
