About The Position

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to administer, configure, troubleshoot, and enhance the Edifecs platform for reliable and compliant Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction processing. The role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs and is a 100% U.S.-based remote W-2 position. Candidates residing in California, Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, or Washington will not be considered. U.S. citizenship is required, and the selected candidate must possess or qualify for a Public Trust (MBI) and meet applicable government investigation and security eligibility requirements. The engineer will work hands-on with Edifecs components including XEServer, XEngine, TPM, SpecBuilder, and related modules. The position involves developing and optimizing processing rules, routing logic, and batch workflows; resolving transaction and performance problems; supporting deployments and upgrades; and coordinating with EDI Analysts, DevSecOps, cloud, business, operations, and security teams. The role also includes AWS operations, integration connectivity, infrastructure as code, compliance and audit support, and translating business reporting needs into technical data models. The position requires at least eight years of experience in EDI, healthcare, or enterprise application operations, and at least eight years in software or data engineering with strong AWS experience. A bachelor's degree in a related technical discipline is requested, though equivalent practical experience is considered. Edifecs certification is listed under professional certifications. AWS certification and healthcare-specific experience are desired. Interviews are conducted on Microsoft Teams with the candidate's camera on, and applicants will be asked to provide a LinkedIn profile link.
