As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's Capital Markets technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA; Charlotte, NC or Dallas, TX. This role offers exposure to PNC’s current technology stack, opportunities to explore agentic AI development, and participation in internal hackathons. You will play a key role in enhancing the Broker Dealer platform by automating manual processes, implementing regulatory-driven modifications, and building new technology capabilities in the Fixed Income space. You will also leverage microservices, MVC, and CQRS to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure applications.

Requirements

Proven experience with microservices architecture, MVC frameworks, and CQRS for distributed systems.
Strong understanding of SOLID principles and object-oriented design.
Proficiency in modern programming languages such as angular, react, java, python
Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
Experience with unit testing frameworks and best practices.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience.
Specific certifications are often required.
In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

Define and implement application architectures using microservices, MVC, and CQRS patterns to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.
Serve as a subject matter expert, mentoring development teams on best practices, design principles, and emerging technologies.
Design, develop, and deploy software solutions using PNC’s technology stack and CI/CD standards.
Participate fully in Agile ceremonies and collaborate as an integral member of the development team.
Implement enhancements, reports, and data extracts required by regulatory bodies.
Build new technology capabilities to support Capital Markets Fixed Income operations.
Ensure adherence to SOLID principles, maintain high code quality, and perform thorough unit testing.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
Aligns business strategy with software solutions.
Proposes, designs & codes software solutions to address complex business needs.
Oversees technical and procedural documentation required.
Leads complex problem solving.
Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development.
Displays an innovative approach to apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.
