As a Software Engineer Principal within PNC's Capital Markets technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA; Charlotte, NC or Dallas, TX. This role offers exposure to PNC’s current technology stack, opportunities to explore agentic AI development, and participation in internal hackathons. You will play a key role in enhancing the Broker Dealer platform by automating manual processes, implementing regulatory-driven modifications, and building new technology capabilities in the Fixed Income space. You will also leverage microservices, MVC, and CQRS to deliver scalable, resilient, and secure applications.

Requirements

  • Proven experience with microservices architecture, MVC frameworks, and CQRS for distributed systems.
  • Strong understanding of SOLID principles and object-oriented design.
  • Proficiency in modern programming languages such as angular, react, java, python
  • Proficiency in SQL and relational database concepts.
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks and best practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 5+ years of industry-relevant experience.
  • Specific certifications are often required.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement application architectures using microservices, MVC, and CQRS patterns to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert, mentoring development teams on best practices, design principles, and emerging technologies.
  • Design, develop, and deploy software solutions using PNC’s technology stack and CI/CD standards.
  • Participate fully in Agile ceremonies and collaborate as an integral member of the development team.
  • Implement enhancements, reports, and data extracts required by regulatory bodies.
  • Build new technology capabilities to support Capital Markets Fixed Income operations.
  • Ensure adherence to SOLID principles, maintain high code quality, and perform thorough unit testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and secure solutions.
  • Aligns business strategy with software solutions.
  • Proposes, designs & codes software solutions to address complex business needs.
  • Oversees technical and procedural documentation required.
  • Leads complex problem solving.
  • Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues and solution development.
  • Displays an innovative approach to apply modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities.
