About The Position

Nuro is seeking talented software engineers to join its growing team, focusing on one of three key areas: Onboard Systems, Performance, and Devices Platform. The Onboard Systems team develops a reliable, high-performance platform for integrating autonomy software and algorithms across self-driving platforms, requiring close collaboration with software, hardware, and systems/safety teams. The Performance team optimizes Nuro’s AV software for quick and safe reactions, building systems for continuous performance analysis and driving latency reduction and resource efficiency. The Devices Platform team establishes the foundation for Nuro’s onboard software for sensor and compute platforms, including device drivers, protocols, and runtime APIs, creating a hardware-agnostic platform and evaluating next-generation hardware.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotics, or related field
  • Strong C++ skills
  • Experience in large-scale distributed systems
  • Experience in computer architecture and operating systems
  • Experience with advanced algorithms using C++ and Python
  • Experience in highly-concurrent, multi-processor, and multi-threaded environments
  • Experience in software performance tuning and optimization
  • Experience with profiling and tracing tools and infrastructure (perf, eBPF, Perfetto, pprof, NVIDIA Nsight Systems/Compute)
  • Experience with robotics software frameworks
  • Experience with robotics hardware components (including sensors, embedded platforms, etc)
  • Experience with different compute modalities (x86, ARM, GPU, FPGA, etc)
  • Strong problem-solving and programming skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide a reliable and high-performance platform for autonomy software integration.
  • Collaborate with software, hardware, and systems/safety teams to ensure safe and reliable operation of new software and hardware.
  • Resolve onboard error and performance problems.
  • Optimize the performance of Nuro’s AV software.
  • Build systems and tools for continuous performance analysis.
  • Drive latency reduction and resource efficiency efforts.
  • Lay the foundation of Nuro’s onboard software for sensor and compute platforms.
  • Develop device drivers, inter-device protocols and pipelines, and device runtime APIs.
  • Create a hardware-agnostic platform for perception and autonomy SW stacks.
  • Define, evaluate, and integrate next-generation HW platforms.
  • Build tooling to assist continuous testing and validation.
