About The Position

Fleetio is seeking a product-minded and team-oriented Software Engineer to join their Marketplace Engineering Team. This role will focus on writing maintainable code and implementing new features for Fleetio’s Marketplace, a platform that helps customers find and purchase products and services essential to their fleet operations. The Marketplace includes shop integrations for managing external maintenance activities, a payment solution for efficient service management and payments, and tools for vendors to manage shop details and monitor payments. The engineer will be responsible for connecting customers to maintenance shops, facilitating service, approvals, transactions, billing, and data entry for fleets.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience with Ruby on Rails, React, and/or Typescript
  • A firm understanding of object-oriented programming and relational databases, such as PostgreSQL
  • Solid experience solving challenging architecture problems with good design
  • Experience with unit testing frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills (particularly written)
  • An eye for detail and quality, and the ability to make tradeoffs

  • Expertise with data modeling and optimizing query performance
  • Experience leading small teams/projects
  • Knowledge of the fleet management industry
  • Previous experience building APIs for consumer/mobile app consumption

Responsibilities

  • Take part in planning, designing, and implementing features to build out our Marketplace offering, and facilitate outsourced maintenance and payments for vendors and customers.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers to consistently deliver high-quality software.
  • Engage in collaborative design and architecture of features.
  • Deliver well-tested, maintainable, and performant code.
  • Research, implement prototypes and spikes as necessary to validate assumptions and technical feasibility.
  • Possess a strong voice in the development and planning processes.
  • Thoroughly review your peers’ code to ensure quality, consistency and to share knowledge.
