The engineer will be a key contributor to a new business within the nascent autonomy industry, working in a dynamic and customer-focused team. The company emphasizes speed and excellence, offering a place for hands-on individuals to significantly impact the realization of autonomous systems. The company is hiring for all levels and operates as an in-office company, with employees expected to work from their office 5 days a week, while also allowing for flexibility and responsible schedule management.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Applied Mathematics, or related engineering field.
  • 3+ years of experience building software components or (sub)systems that address real-world mapping and localization challenges.
  • Deep understanding of core localization concepts, world representations and transforms, the intersection of mapping and localization, and error analysis and characterization.
  • Knowledge of how to analyze and compare the performance of various hardware solutions for localization.
  • C++ programming expertise.

Nice To Haves

  • MS/PhD with a focus on localization, mapping, or a closely related field.
  • Deep hands-on expertise in relevant algorithms or methods, such as SLAM, state estimation, non-linear optimization, Computer Vision, 3D geometry, numerical analysis, or distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of sensors used for localization, state-of-the-art industry solutions, and common approaches for production systems.
  • Experience with large-scale data processing using frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a state-of-the-art mapping and localization system capable of running on a variety of vehicle platforms, providing lifelong mapping and localization in dynamic environments.
  • Build a scalable system that can construct local or global maps and fuse live data with maps.
  • Build real-time onboard localization with high integrity, as well as offboard localization methods.
  • Utilize available resources and sensors, including inertial sensors, vehicle signals, GNSS, cameras, lidars, and radars, for mapping and localization.
  • Continuously improve system performance using large-scale, data-driven methods rooted in first principles.

Benefits

  • Base salary
  • Equity (options and/or restricted stock units)
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage
  • 401k retirement benefits with employer match
