About The Position

We believe people should love what they do – in this role, you will be responsible for leading and managing all Software Engineers within the Munitions group in the Textron Systems Weapons division. This includes ensuring adequate staffing levels for Software Engineers, managing full-time employees, co-ops, interns, and contractors, and forecasting needs to meet program and organizational requirements. You will also drive Software Engineer development and engagement through performance management, facilitating regular communication, and developing detailed skills planning and training opportunities. Additionally, you will oversee customer deliverables, including reviewing and approving software architecture and requirements development, and ensuring deliverables meet internal quality expectations and customer requirements. You will monitor and improve departmental performance by analyzing quality metrics and gathering feedback from stakeholders, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years of experience, OR Master’s degree (M.S.) in Engineering with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of embedded and application Software Engineering processes, tools, and best practices.
  • Familiarity with Agile Software Development methods and tools.
  • Understanding of Model-Based Engineering practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with process improvement methodologies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all Software Engineers within the Munitions group in the Textron Systems Weapons division.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels for Software Engineers, including managing full-time employees, co-ops, interns, and contractors.
  • Forecast needs to meet program and organizational requirements.
  • Drive Software Engineer development and engagement through performance management, establishing objectives, conducting reviews, and providing feedback.
  • Facilitate regular communication, hosting meetings, resolving issues, and mentoring team members.
  • Develop detailed skills planning and provide training opportunities to enhance capabilities.
  • Oversee customer deliverables, including review and approval of software architecture and requirements development.
  • Ensure deliverables meet internal quality expectations and customer requirements.
  • Monitor and improve departmental performance via analysis of quality metrics related to process compliance and overall team performance.
  • Gather and address feedback from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
