About The Position

Markon is seeking a Software Engineer 3 to support the Fort Meade customer as part of the MT&E team. This role focuses on the design, development, and deployment of cloud-native applications and services within AWS environments. The position leverages AWS managed services to build scalable, resilient, and secure solutions that support mission-critical operations. This role works closely with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to modernize systems, automate processes, and deliver innovative capabilities in support of evolving mission requirements.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor’s degree and 20+ years of software engineering experience
  • Experience developing applications within AWS cloud environments
  • Experience utilizing AWS managed services to build scalable and resilient solutions
  • Strong software development experience in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or JavaScript
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native applications
  • Experience working in Agile development environments
  • Experience with source code management and CI/CD practices
  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture, application security, and software design principles
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with serverless architectures and AWS services such as Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, EKS, or Step Functions
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Experience supporting Intelligence Community mission systems and cloud modernization initiatives
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and automated deployment pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native software applications and services
  • Develop solutions utilizing AWS managed services and cloud-native architectures
  • Support system modernization, automation, and application migration efforts
  • Develop and maintain APIs, microservices, and backend application components
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, and stakeholders to define requirements and implement technical solutions
  • Optimize application performance, scalability, security, and reliability within AWS environments
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, code reviews, testing, and deployment
  • Troubleshoot and resolve software defects, integration challenges, and performance issues
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation and software artifacts
  • Support system integration, deployment, and sustainment activities
