About The Position

Markon is seeking a Software Engineer Level 3 to support the development of modern, cloud-based, microservices-driven applications for the Fort Meade Customer. This role spans full stack development, with a focus on building scalable frontend interfaces and high-performance backend services. The engineer will work across distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-driven platforms to deliver resilient, mission-focused solutions.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph with this Customer.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • 12+ years of software engineering experience
  • Strong experience with frontend development using JavaScript and React/JSX
  • Experience with backend development using Node.js, Python, and/or Rust
  • Experience designing and deploying microservices architectures
  • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and cloud migration strategies
  • Experience with distributed systems, messaging frameworks, and real-time data processing
  • Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and observability tools (e.g., Grafana)
  • Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases
  • Familiarity with big data and data flow tools such as NiFi
  • Understanding of security labeling and compliance standards (e.g., CAM, LAC, COI)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain full stack applications using modern frontend and backend technologies
  • Build responsive user interfaces using JavaScript, React, and JSX (with exposure to TypeScript)
  • Design and implement backend services using Node.js, Python, and Rust for high-performance components
  • Develop and deploy microservices architectures using Kubernetes and Helm
  • Implement service mesh, load balancing, and multi-site deployment strategies
  • Support cloud migration efforts and optimize cloud-based system performance
  • Integrate messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or other message fabrics
  • Utilize infrastructure as code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Salt) for deployment and automation
  • Develop and maintain real-time data processing using WebSockets and streaming technologies
  • Implement testing frameworks (e.g., Jest) to ensure code quality and reliability
  • Monitor system performance using tools such as Grafana and InfluxDB
  • Work with a variety of data stores including MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, and Neo4j
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to system architecture decisions
