About The Position

The Software Engineer L3 will be responsible for developing software for embedded devices and systems, from requirements through production and support. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional team members to define operational performance requirements, integrate software and hardware components, and contribute to system design. The engineer will participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and formal testing. Additionally, the role requires contributing to software test plans, procedures, and technical documentation, participating in peer reviews, and tracking/repairing defects. Collaboration with systems, test, and program leadership is essential, utilizing various software languages and tools on Windows, Linux, and embedded real-time operating systems. The position also involves supporting software bids and proposal inputs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field with 4+ years of relevant software engineering experience, or a Master's degree in one of those fields with 2+ years of relevant software engineering experience.
  • Experience with object-oriented software development using C++.
  • Experience with embedded real-time software development in Linux or VxWorks environments.
  • Experience with high-performance and multi-threaded programming.
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and contribute to complex technical efforts.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, if required for the program.
  • Advanced proficiency with C++.
  • Experience working with Department of Defense programs.
  • Experience with hands-on software development and troubleshooting on embedded targets.
  • Experience in embedded systems design, including use of a real-time operating system.
  • Working knowledge of signal processing, control systems, or networking.
  • Knowledge of protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, and IPsec.
  • Solid presentation and technical writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

  • Computer Engineering or Computer Science degree preference.
