Software Engineer L2 - Growth Marketing Platform

Curative HRAustin, TX

About The Position

Curative is seeking a forward-deployed software engineer to serve as the technical owner of their growth platform. This platform is responsible for converting website visitors into customers, encompassing the marketing site, lead capture forms, tracking, underwriting, and quoting systems. The role involves working closely with marketing, sales, and underwriting teams to translate their workflows into software solutions. A significant aspect of the job includes building AI agents and automation to streamline processes such as RFP intake, content routing, and manual sales operations. The engineer will be the single technical point of responsibility for these services, partnering with stakeholders to set architectural direction, manage production, and represent the platform in cross-team discussions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience shipping production software.
  • Real fluency in Python and TypeScript.
  • Experience with Next.js and React.
  • Experience with FastAPI and SQLAlchemy.
  • Experience owning a public-facing website, including server-side rendering, static generation, CDN, cache behavior, Core Web Vitals, SEO fundamentals, and redirects.
  • Strong SQL and relational database fundamentals, including reading query plans, identifying N+1 issues, and understanding migration safety at scale.
  • Analytics and experimentation literacy, including experience instrumenting funnels, trusting data for decision-making, and understanding A/B testing limitations.
  • A correctness mindset, with experience building systems where output must add up and implementing checks, invariants, and audit trails.
  • Systems thinking ability, including sketching architectures, identifying failure modes, and reasoning about blast radius.
  • Production cloud experience (AWS, GCP, or equivalent).
  • Experience being on-call for a production system.
  • Comfort working directly with non-technical stakeholders, including marketers and sales representatives.
  • Product and design taste, with the ability to hold conversations with designers and brand leads.
  • An interest in growth as a discipline.
  • Sharp written communication skills for prompts, specs, and PR descriptions.
  • AI-first working style, using AI coding tools as a primary development tool.
  • Ability to review every AI-generated diff and not merge based on assumptions.
  • Experience building tooling to make AI more effective (skills, evals, fixtures, integrations).

Nice To Haves

  • A portfolio of AI-assisted work (skills, agents, automations).
  • Experience as the single owner of a non-trivial production service.
  • Experience with a headless CMS, particularly supporting a non-engineering team.
  • Growth or marketing engineering experience (landing pages, lifecycle/campaign tooling, paid acquisition data, attribution, CRM/marketing automation integration, SEO/content platforms).
  • Experience with document and file ingestion at scale (parsing spreadsheets, PDFs, email attachments).
  • Experience with sales or CRM systems, especially replacing one.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical owner of the growth platform, from the public marketing site to the underwriting and quoting system.
  • Embed with marketing, sales, and underwriting teams to understand their needs and translate workflows into software.
  • Build AI agents and automation for tasks like RFP intake, content routing, and sales-operations processes.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define technical direction, own production, and represent the platform in discussions.
  • Manage the curative.com website, focusing on speed, SEO, accessibility, and uptime.
  • Oversee the underwriting and group lifecycle platform, managing the process from RFP to closed deal.
  • Support marketing's paid campaigns by managing ad targeting, tracking, and conversion signals.
  • Develop and maintain AI tooling, prompts, skills, and evaluations to enhance engineer productivity.
  • Implement and manage conversion tracking, experimentation, and data integrity.
  • Ensure reliable lead capture, including forms, validation, bot defense, routing, and attribution.
  • Manage production infrastructure, deployments, observability, on-call rotations, and costs.
  • Monitor and report on key funnel metrics such as conversion rates, lead-to-RFP rates, and win/loss rates.
  • Develop and maintain integrations with marketing and sales tooling.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define the roadmap and push back on requests that do not solve the core problem.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the growth funnel within 90 days to inform prompt engineering.
