About The Position
CONSULTFIZ LATAM, a fully owned subsidiary of Confiz LLC, is seeking a Java engineer in Costa Rica with at least five years of professional experience delivering quality software, ideally across the full stack. The role contributes to backend services, APIs, microservices, enterprise architecture, database solutions, Kafka event streaming, CI/CD, and AWS cloud infrastructure. Engineers also help test and optimize software and provide production support, including issue investigation and incident response. Depending on expertise, strong candidates may be given additional responsibilities. The position is part of a global team working on innovative enterprise projects and products for customers that include Fortune 100 retail and CPG companies, leading store chains, fast-growth fintech companies, and Silicon Valley startups. Requirements
- 5–7+ years of professional software development experience.
- Proficiency in Java and experience with backend frameworks such as Spring Boot.
- Familiarity with SQL databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL and basic exposure to NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB or MongoDB.
- Understanding of event-driven architectures and basic experience with Apache Kafka, including producers, consumers, and topics.
- Exposure to AWS cloud services such as Lambda, S3, and RDS, or other cloud platforms.
- Willingness to learn and assist in diagnosing and resolving production system issues.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and proactively respond to incidents.
- Experience with or awareness of CI/CD tools such as GitLab or GitHub CI/CD and automated testing and deployment pipelines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in a team setting.
- Willingness to learn and grow under mentorship in a dynamic environment.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Responsibilities
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining backend services, APIs, and microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code under the guidance of senior developers.
- Contribute to robust data processing and system integrations.
- Collaborate on secure, scalable, and fault-tolerant systems for enterprise applications.
- Support backend architecture enhancements for large-scale data and user requests.
- Develop and optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing solutions using SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Assist with refining database schemas and query performance.
- Contribute to designing and maintaining Kafka-based event streaming architectures and troubleshoot and optimize Kafka pipelines.
- Learn to implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or GitHub CI/CD, and help automate build, testing, and deployment processes.
- Work with senior engineers to design and maintain AWS-based backend solutions using services such as S3, Lambda, and RDS.
- Perform initial rounds of code testing, debugging, and optimization, and contribute to unit and integration tests.
- Provide day-to-day production support for frontend and backend applications and services, including issue resolution and root-cause analysis.
- Monitor application health, performance, and availability, and assist in incident response as needed.
- Document recurring issues and propose solutions to improve stability and efficiency.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and respond proactively to incidents.
