About The Position

As a Software Engineer III in JPMorganChase’s Digital Technology division, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team designing and delivering trusted, secure, stable, and scalable technology products. You develop critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas and business functions in support of the firm’s objectives. The role includes designing, developing, testing, troubleshooting, and operating software, as well as producing architecture and design artifacts and ensuring implementation meets design constraints. You use enterprise-authorized AI coding assistance and automation tools responsibly, validating generated outputs for correctness, quality, performance, and security. You also analyze data and system behavior to identify issues and patterns that can improve software applications, coding practices, and architecture.

Requirements

  • Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts and at least 3 years of applied experience.
  • Practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Experience developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment using one or more modern programming languages and database querying languages.
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, including critically evaluating, validating, and refining generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers in safe and effective use.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • Experience building Java microservices, APIs, and RESTful services using Spring Boot; using J2EE and JAX-RS to develop secure enterprise REST applications.
  • Experience building distributed systems using the Command Query Responsibility Segregation (CQRS) design pattern.
  • Experience processing big data with Spark and real-time events with Kafka; creating API contracts with Swagger and event contracts with AVRO; and designing JSON and XML data exchange formats.
  • Experience using Servlets and JDBC to build server applications that retrieve data from Oracle and Cassandra databases.
  • Experience with engineering productivity and operations tools, including Maven, IntelliJ, GIT/BitBucket, Junit, Mockito, Log4j, Splunk, and observability tools such as Dynatrace.
  • Experience with scripting or automation for CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Docker, and Terraform, and with production health monitoring or reporting tools such as Tableau.
