SOFTWARE ENGINEER IV – DIGITAL COMMERCE
About The Position
As a Software Engineer IV on Upbound Group’s Digital Commerce team, you will be a key individual contributor developing and enhancing next-generation commerce platforms. The role involves hands-on execution of the full software development life cycle (SDLC), producing high-quality code and delivering project milestones on time. You will work with technical leadership to maintain architectural integrity and collaborate with offshore partners to coordinate development. The role includes building and optimizing features, translating business requirements into technical solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, participating in code reviews, and owning assigned work streams from design through deployment and maintenance. It also involves implementing secure coding practices and conducting vulnerability assessments to protect consumer data and meet digital commerce security standards. The position is based in Plano, Texas, and requires working Monday through Friday, with travel between locations as needed for transformation and governance activities. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States; employment-based immigration sponsorship, including OPT or CPT, is not offered.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 5 years of software development experience focused on B2C applications.
- Solid experience with Tier 1 e-commerce platforms such as Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
- Hands-on full-stack development experience across frontend and backend systems.
- Familiarity with high-performance, scalable e-commerce architecture.
- Experience with Git for version control and knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
- Ability to work in Plano, Texas, Monday through Friday, and travel between locations as necessary.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment-based immigration sponsorship, including OPT or CPT, is not available.
Nice To Haves
- Proficiency in frontend technologies such as React, Angular, or Vue.js and backend technologies such as Node.js, Java, or Python.
- Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code to accelerate code generation, automate unit testing, and streamline technical documentation while maintaining security and quality standards.
- Understanding of e-commerce principles and Tier 1 e-commerce platforms, including integration with external systems and API protocols.
- Experience managing work throughout the full software development life cycle.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including product and design teams.
- Experience communicating with vendors to resolve technical dependencies and integration issues.
- Proficiency in agile methodologies.
- Resourceful, systematic problem-solving ability, including quickly diagnosing and resolving complex technical issues.
Responsibilities
- Write high-quality code, resolve complex bugs, and optimize applications to meet performance, stability, and security standards.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with the engineering technical lead, product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend engineering teams.
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues and production bugs in a timely and effective manner.
- Participate in code reviews and implement best practices that support a strong development culture.
- Own assigned work streams from initial design through deployment and maintenance.
- Implement secure coding practices and conduct vulnerability assessments to protect consumer data and meet digital commerce security standards.
