About The Position

As a Senior Mobile Software Engineer, you'll design, build, and deliver customer-facing iOS experiences that power Walmart's in-store shopping journey. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop high-quality, scalable mobile applications that enable personalized ordering and seamless digital experiences. In this role, you'll drive technical excellence through clean architecture, modern mobile development practices, and continuous improvement while mentoring teammates and helping shape the future of our mobile platform. Your work will directly impact millions of customers by creating intuitive, reliable, and engaging shopping experiences. We’re part of Walmart’s Store Technologies organization, building mobile experiences that connect the Walmart app with what happens inside our stores. Our team focuses on digitizing and simplifying the in-store shopping journey, including personalized ordering experiences for Bakery and Deli. We work closely with Product, Design, Backend Engineering, and Store Operations to turn complex workflows into simple, reliable iOS and Android experiences. We enjoy solving real customer problems, improving performance and usability, and building features at scale. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience building high-quality native mobile applications for iOS (Swift)
  • Strong understanding of mobile application architecture, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
  • Experience consuming RESTful APIs and integrating with backend services.
  • Familiarity with modern development practices including automated testing, CI/CD, code reviews, and Git.
  • Passion for creating intuitive, performant, and accessible mobile experiences.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, driving technical discussions, and taking ownership of features from design through production.
  • A customer-first mindset with a desire to continuously improve the shopping experience through technology.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.

Responsibilities

  • Own delivery of scoped features and models through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and support.
  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI/ML components and GenAI tools to enhance software intelligence and development efficiency.
  • Assist in translating high-level designs into detailed technical solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements and success metrics aligned with business goals.
  • Monitor application performance and maintain system reliability through proactive testing and observability.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to continuous improvement and engineering best practices.
